About
Michael

A man wearing glasses and a gray suit smiling and waving on a sidewalk in a city street with cars, trucks, utility poles, and traffic lights.

I’m Michael Haas, and I’m running for Pennsylvania State Representative in District 2 because too many people are getting stuck in the simplest parts of life: getting benefits you’ve already earned, finding the right office, getting a call back, figuring out what’s next.

I’ve run into those barriers myself—and I’ve watched neighbors hit the same wall. When the system is confusing, it raises costs, increases stress, and quietly tells working people and seniors: “Good luck.”

That’s not acceptable. Government should be a tool you can use, not a maze you have to survive. Representatives should do more than guide you through that maze - they should actively make the maze easier for those following to manage.

I grew up in North East and have lived in Erie my whole life. I live with my girlfriend, Julia, and our three dogs: Mona, Hanna, & Theo in the house her grandfather built. I’ve worked across the region as a barista, at local nonprofit organizations, and in roles spanning tech, advancement, marketing, sales, strategy, and now I’m the owner of my own consulting business.

Like most Erieites, I’m focused on practical results: strong constituent services, lower costs, and a government that works the way it’s supposed to—especially for seniors and working families, who get hit the hardest. We need to take care of those who can’t care for themselves.

What does a state representative do?

A state representative is your most direct link to state government—your community’s eyes and ears in Harrisburg. The job is equal parts passing laws, funding priorities, and helping constituents solve problems when systems fail.

State Representatives:

  • Pass laws and resolutions in the General Assembly

  • Approve funding and vote on the state budget

  • Provide ongoing constituent services

  • Advocate for district needs in Harrisburg

In 2026, we need representatives who can listen and deliver on the basics—healthcare access, reliable internet, fair taxes, energy costs, and making state government less of a maze.

With my background in service and building practical systems, I’ll fight for a state government that helps Erie instead of slowing it down—and that strengthens our district’s leverage to deliver real wins like universal pre-k and better care options for seniors.
